I've seen it work in tombs. Look around the site, i'm sure you'll find a few videos of the Koreans commiting wholesale slaughter with a minion master build. The whole team should be working to gether on it of course because one screw up can end it. I know, i've done it. My guild was in tombs and a minon master came for us. Killed him and watched the 20 or so minions eat the rest of the team. There was only one survivior left to mop up when they finally died

minions (not fiends) with death nova make decent suicide machines :P throw in taste of death and EoE for mass explosions :P

of course, you have to be able to counter EoE once ppl start dieing

still that was like 15 lvl 18 bone fiends in 4v4, pretty interesting tactic, but get any smite monk aiming fiends or spiker aiming master and enjoy the show
i have seen a few necros that use their minions as suicide bombers and it did pretty well
